Clumping, mound-forming cactus covered in soft-looking white feathery spines; blooms sweet-scented ivory/pink flowers in spring. Highly rot-prone—dry is safer than wet!
☀️ Light
- Ideal: Bright light + 4–6 hrs gentle morning sun; light afternoon shade in summer
- Indoor: South/East window; acclimate slowly to direct sun to avoid scorching
- Warning:
- Leggy growth, sparse/less white spines = too little light
- Brown patches on stems = sunburn
- Rotate regularly for even shape
💧 Water (Critical Rule!)
- Method: Soak-and-dry—only water when soil is bone dry all the way through
- Seasons:
- Spring/Summer: ~every 10–18 days (adjust for pot size/heat)
- Autumn: Gradually reduce; stop entirely mid-autumn
- Winter: Keep almost completely dry; only tiny sip if stems wrinkle
